Tommasi

The Estate
Tommasi is one of Valpolicella's most important family estates, producing wines from several hundred hectares of vineyards across the Classico zone — an unusually large holding for a region dominated by small growers. Founded in 1902 by Giacomo Tommasi in the village of Pedemonte, the estate has been passed through four generations without losing its identity or independence.
The Tommasi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is aged for three years in large oak barrels after a long drying period, producing a wine of classic structure and richness. The Rafael Ripasso — aged in small barrique — offers a more approachable expression of the appassimento style, full of dried cherry, plum and spice.
In recent decades, Tommasi has expanded its portfolio with estates in Tuscany, Puglia and Oltrepò Pavese, but Valpolicella remains the heart of the operation. The family's commitment to indigenous varieties and traditional methods makes Tommasi a reliable and essential producer in any serious cellar.
