Haut-Bailly

The Estate
Uniquely among the great Pessac-Léognan estates, Château Haut-Bailly produces only red wine — there is no white, only a singular Grand Vin and a second wine. Classified as a Grand Cru Classé de Graves in 1959, the estate has gained enormous prestige under the Wilmers family and their director Véronique Sanders.
The wines are known for their extraordinary purity of fruit, silky texture and uncommon approachability in youth — quite different from the tannic austerity typical of many Pessac estates. Deep sandy gravel soils and a particularly old average vine age give Haut-Bailly wines a rare transparency of terroir.
Under Véronique Sanders's direction since 1998, Haut-Bailly has become one of the most talked-about estates in Bordeaux. The 2020 vintage was awarded 100 points by multiple critics, confirming the estate's position at the very top of the Pessac-Léognan hierarchy.
