Giovanni Rosso is one of Barolo's most celebrated rising stars: a family estate in Serralunga d'Alba whose wines have attracted enormous critical acclaim over the past decade. The Rosso family has farmed the steep slopes of Serralunga for generations, and their Barolos reflect the particular character of this privileged sub-zone.
Serralunga produces wines more structured, mineral, and long-lived than those from the Barolo commune's softer soils, with a distinctive iron-earthiness that is the hallmark of this ancient seabed. Davide Rosso's winemaking — precise, respectful of tradition, unafraid of innovation — translates this terroir into bottles of astonishing complexity.
The estate's crown jewel is the Vigna Rionda cru — one of Barolo's most celebrated single vineyards, a steeply sloped south-facing amphitheatre in the heart of Serralunga. From these old vines, Davide produces wines of extraordinary complexity and age-worthiness that are now counted among the finest expressions of Nebbiolo anywhere in Piedmont.
