Barone Pizzini
The Estate
The oldest continuously operating winery in Franciacorta, Barone Pizzini traces its history to 1870 and the Pizzini family's acquisition of the historic estate in Provaglio d'Iseo. Today, under Silvano Brescianini's direction, the estate is certified organic and is one of the leading advocates for biodynamic viticulture in the appellation.
The wines reflect this philosophy: they are precise, mineral, and terroir-driven, with a restraint and elegance that sets them apart from the more exuberant styles found elsewhere in Franciacorta. The Animante non-millésimé and Bagnadore vintage cuvée are among the most serious and authentic expressions of the appellation.
Barone Pizzini's commitment to organic viticulture — a rarity in an appellation where scale and technical winemaking often dominate — gives the wines a sense of place and integrity that is immediately apparent in the glass. The estate is a reminder that the oldest name in Franciacorta is also, in many ways, one of its most forward-thinking.
